Congratulations to everybody who participated and/or helped out with the tournament!

We had a great turnout; especially from our Just for Kicks groups. It was awesome to see so many young karateka enjoying themselves.

An extra thank you to those clubs from out of town who visited us this weekend. We hope to have some of our students participate in your events as well!

We’ll have some pictures and names of award winners soon.

Now… we get ready for the grading!! (December 13)

Tournament This Weekend!

This weekend is coming up fast!!

We need EVERYONE to bring their gift for the prize table.

If you haven’t brought your prize table gift to a karate class yet, they can be dropped off at Carlyle Motor Products with Rolland; or dropped off at either one of the Carlyle Schools with Laurie Bouchard.

There is a clinic on Friday night led by Sensei Denis, and the tournament itself is on Saturday.

Clinic Sessions are 6:30 to 7:30 – Under 12; 7:30 to 9:00 age 12 and up.

On Saturday, Registration begins at 9:00 am and bow-in is at 10:00 am. The Black Belt divisions begin right after bow-in followed immediately by our youngest competitors.

Here are the forms for you…

Tournament Info

The tournament is just around the corner, almost literally!

The clinic is being held on Friday, November 25, 2016 and the tournament itself is on Saturday, November 26.

We still need people to sign up for shifts and items for the canteen. We also need people to sign up to bring items for the banquet.

Everyone is welcome to attend the banquet! The more, the merrier! The cost is $13 per person. Age 10 and under pays $10.

Please remember to bring an item for the raffle table. A number of items have already been turned in, and they look good. You can bring your item to any karate class before the tournament – only 1 left! – or bring it to the tournament location on Friday evening so it can be added to the table.

Check out the tournament info flyer for details.

You can download and print the following registration form as well…

There is regular class this coming Tuesday even though Student-Led Conferences are being held at the school. Be sure to come and put the finishing touches on your kata and kumite before the tournament!

See you at the dojo!

Tournament Info sheet and Registration Form now Available

You will find links to the 2016 Tournament “flyer” or information sheet and the 2016 Registration Form below.

Feel free to download and complete the registration form directly from this site, and tell others to do the same.

Remember to look for the sign-up sheets that have been going around the classes lately, and be sure to sign up to do your part to make OUR tournament a success. Don’t forget to pick up a small raffle table item. Even if you are unable to attend the tournament, it would be great if all of our members could contribute a small gift to the table.

Please make every effort to attend and participate in the clinic and tournament. They are excellent events intended to help our development as karateka. You will meet many different people, from many different backgrounds, all brought together by their desire to learn karate and live as respectful, humble members of their communities. Come to the tournament, participate in the events, meet new people, come for a great home-cooked meal at the banquet after the tournament. It’s worth it!

These forms will also be available on our Downloads page.

See you at the dojo!

Time to think about the tournament!

Our home tournament, the Saskatchewan Provincial Wado Kai Karate Tournament, is coming up fast! November 25 and 26, 2016!

We need all of our club members to help in order to make the tournament a success. The jobs aren’t hard, we just need people to do them.

We are asking all of our members to pick up some kind of small “gift” for a raffle table (like they do at hockey tournaments). It does not have to be a gift for a child, but it does need to be appropriate for the whole family.

In the next few classes we will be asking people to think about and sign up to help in a number of ways. Here are some places we need help:

  • working in the canteen – selling lunch and snacks to participants. There is a schedule made up and you will be able to choose a time to help.
  • score/time keeping – this is done ring-side at tables. It isn’t hard, and we’ll show you how to do it. Preferably, we have 3 people per ring to do this.
  • selling tickets at the raffle table. This involves counting money and giving change.
  • helping at the registration table taking fees and forms. This should be an older karateka or adult.

Those are the main things with which we need help. Other jobs will come up as the tournament approaches.

Our club is well-known for running an excellent tournament! Let’s all help to make this the best one yet!

See you at the dojo!
