Congratulations to everyone who successfully graded up! Hard work pays off and the feeling of “earning” a new belt or a few stripes is very exhilarating! Way to go, everyone.
So now it’s back to work in regular classes! It is also getting to be “Tournament Season”. There are many tournaments held near our club so it would be great for as many of us as possible to get out to a few of them. Weyburn is coming up soon and Virden is on Saturday, February 26, 2011 with a work-out on Friday, February 25.
The Weyburn tournament is a nice tournament for us. It is close by and not really huge. The Virden tournament is the Manitobe Provincial tournament and is very similar to our own tournament in size. Sensei Dennis Labbé, the President of our Federation, will be there and there is a chance that Senseis Ron Mattie and Rathe Mokelky will be there also. Keep checking here, in the “Events” section, for details.
See you at the next work-out.
Kevin will be taking orders for T-shirts this Tuesday, January 25 from 6:30 – 7:20 pm during the Just For Kicks class. Our order will be submitted on Thursday, January 27.
This may be the last chance to order these T-shirts this season! Adult styles are $25 and youth styles are $20. Please pay by cheque made out to “Moose Mountain Karate”
Keep your eyes out for more “club” gear coming soon.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in last night’s grading! Everyone worked really hard to demonstrate their skills and earn a new belt.
Regular classes continue next week and we’ll learn the outcome of the grading then. Remember that Sensei Jayson asked us to “self-evaluate” ourselves and determine where our strengths and weaknesses were and if we felt we deserved our new belt.
Just a reminder to anyone interested in attending the Melitta “Teaching Tournament” that there is a women’s Self Defense class in the morning and the tournament starts after lunch. The cost is only $5 and Melitta is not that far away. Contact Sensei Joan if you have any questions about the Melitta tourmanment.
Grading tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 for jr.’s and adults.
The Senseis have checked the books for those eligible for grading. If you were not at the class on January 11 or feel you may have been missed, please contact one of the Senseis right away.
Even if you are not grading up, everyone is encouraged to attend the grading. It is a great opportunity to see what is involved in a grading and what the Senseis expect of you in order to earn your next belt.
Be ready to begin at 7:30 sharp!
There is a “Just for Kicks” class at their regular time of 6:30.
Everyone needs to arrive a bit early and do some warm-up and stretching on your own. There won’t be a “normal” warm-up before the grading. Be sure to bring water and remember that if you are late or leave the floor after the grading has begun, your grading is over!
Work hard but have fun! Good luck, everyone!
What better way to bring in the New Year than with a karate grading?!
Adults and Jr’s will be grading next Tuesday, January 18, 2011. The Senseis have checked the books for those eligible for grading. If you were not at the class on January 11 or feel you may have been missed, please contact one of the Senseis right away.
Even if you are not “eligible” to be graded, everyone should still attend the grading; especially if it is your first one! It is a great opportunity to learn what is involved in a grading and what the Senseis expect of you in order to earn your next rank.

There will be a work out tomorrow evening starting at 7:00 p.m. for anyone interested. The workout will be held at Built For Life gym in Carlyle.
Regular karate classes will begin on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.
Have a Happy New Year!!
Congratulations to all of the young karateka who participated in last night’s grading! Many were fortunate to be graded up 1 or 2 stripes and several were even awarded their white/yellow distinction belt. Way to go, everyone!!
We also want to say, “Welcome back,” to Jonathan George who joined us for last night’s optional workout. Jonathan has been a dedicated member of Moose Mountain Karate for years but has started attending university in Regina this fall. It was nice to have you back, Jonathan. We wish you continued success as you work towards your education degree.
Our first workout in the New Year will be TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2011. The adults and jr’s should keep working on their katas/techniques a bit over the Christmas holidays because the grading will be soon to follow.
Merry Christmas, everyone! And best wishes for the New Year.
