Thanks to all of our karateka for another great season of training!
We believe that karate gives you what you give to karate, and this year we saw a lot of people giving it all in every class!
Keep checking this blog, or subscribe for instant emails when it is updated, for updates and stories over the summer. We may even have an occasional work out.
As we continue to prepare for our 30th Annual Provincial tournament in November, we’re asking you for a little help… If you know ANYONE who has EVER attended the tournament in Carlyle, please invite them to join us this November 20/21 (especially on the evening of the 20th) for a very special 30th Anniversary tournament.
We encourage you to keep working your katas and techniques over the summer so that you are not re-learing things when you return to classes in September.
Take care and keep working!
See you at the dojo!
The wind up tonight starts at 6:30 pm. We’ll have the BBQ stuff, you bring the rest!
Come ready to do a little work out as we “Break” into summer!
See you at the dojo!
Remember…
Tonight is the last “regular” class of the 2014-15 season! Wow! Time really does fly when you’re having fun working hard!
Next week will be our wind-up. It will be pot luck for desserts and salads etc. Burgers will be provided by the club.
Bring your gi to the wind-up so we can have a good “BREAK” from our regular work outs before we eat! Get it?! Please try to come around 6:30 to get things started.
We have had a great year! Senseis Jayson, Cara, Kevin, Savanna, Quinn and Doug wish to thank all of our karateka for their hard work and determination this year.
Our 2015 tournament in November marks our 30th annual Provincial tournament!!!!! Be sure to encourage everyone to be available November 20/21, 2015 for an exciting event. Tell anyone you know who may have ever attended the tournament before to come on the Friday night… even if they don’t want to participate. Let’s pack the house for our 30th Provincial Tournament Celebration!
It is our hope to be able to attend the 2016 Shintani Memorial Tournament in May in Ontario. More details will follow regarding fund-raising efforts for that event.
See you at the dojo!
There are only a few classes left in our karate season 😦
We will have regular classes on May 12 and 19 with our wind-up on May 26.
There is always a chance that we may hold a workout in the summer so be sure to subscribe to this blog or check it occasionally for updates. We do post things during the summer as well. So be sure to keep checking.
See you at the dojo!
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the grading tonight! Everyone worked really hard and many new stripes and belts were awarded as a result. Way to go, everyone!!
We now have regular classes until the end of May.
For those of you who are interested, the MELFORT mini-tournament is being held this weekend in Melfort, SK.The information can be found here: 2015MelfortKarateTournamentPoster.
The grading is this Tuesday, April 28!
It will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp for ALL STUDENTS. Arrive a few minutes early to do any warm up that you require. There will not be an official warm up.
We are trying a different structure to the grading in order to get everyone finished at a reasonable time. Please be patient as we work out any kinks that may arise in our attempts.
As always, you will be graded on basics such as dachi, tsuki, geri, and uke. Combinations, two-step (not the dance!), kata, and kumite will also be graded. Don’t know what some of those terms mean? Hmm… How well do you know your Japanese numbers?! And how about that belt knot? You know Sensei Kevin will be looking at that!
Good Luck! See you at the dojo!
There will be regular class this week for everyone to polish up for the grading next week.
The grading will be held on Tuesday, April 28. EVERYONE should be at the dojo ready to start at 6:00 pm sharp.
See you at the dojo!
There is regular class tonight for everyone to contiue preparing for the grading.
