Today is the day!

Classes begin today for the 2019-2020 karate season!!

If you were unable to come out and register last week, that’s just fine! We can get you signed up and started tonight at the first classes. Here’s a 2019-20 Registration Form. If you are registering tonight, please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for you to complete a registration form and any sizing or equipment orders you may require.

Just for Kicks (age 5, 6, 7) is 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Jr/Adult (age 8 and up) is 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

Everyone is reminded to remove your shoes in the entry foyer before entering the dojo. Please place all shoes neatly along the sides of the entry.

All members, including non-training parents/guardians, should read the “Code of Conduct for Karate Students”

MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT

All karate participants are reminded of the following:

  • Remove ALL jewellery. Piercings which cannot be removed must be taped.
  • Long hair should be held back. White or black is the preferred colour for hair bands. No barrettes, please.
  • Finger/toe nails should be neatly trimmed short.
  • For those without a gi… clothing should be appropriate for an athletic workout. Sweat pants and a t-shirt are acceptable. The pants should be approximately ankle length i.e. not dragging on the floor to avoid slipping.

“Karate begins and ends with Respect.” Respect and discipline are key components of martial arts training. A lack of either can result in injury among other things.

We are excited to get started!

See you at the dojo!

Class Begins…

… on Tuesday!

Regular classes for the 2019-20 karate season begin on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the dojo! Our dojo is located at the Carlyle Elementary School gym. Please enter through the rear, Northwest doors off of the bus parking lot.

Just for Kicks (age 5, 6, 7) from 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Jr/Adult (age 8 and up) from 7:30 to 9:00 pm

New karate students without a gi (white karate uniform) are reminded to wear a t-shirt and sweats that DO NOT drag on the floor. We don’t want anyone to slip! Gym shorts are acceptable.

Once inside the entry foyer, please remove your shoes and place them neatly along the edge before entering the dojo. Karate students should “bow in” at the door before entering the gym. We’ll go over these customs at the first class. Since we are training in bare feet, we need to keep the dojo floor as clean as possible.

You may still register for karate if you were unable to attend the registration night last week! Just come to the first class and we will get you all set up and ready to go!

See you at the dojo!
