NEW SESSION THIS TUESDAY – and some tournament info

Session 3 begins this Tuesday. This is the final session of our “Karate Season” and the start of a string of tournaments that are fun to attend.

The first tournament coming up is the South Calgary Tournament being held on March 14 & 15, 2014. This is a large tournament with many exciting and unique events that karateka of all levels will find fun and exciting. Here is the information : 2014SouthCalgaryInfo

The next tournament is one that all of us should consider attending; The Saskatoon/Warman Annual Tournament is being held on April 4/5, 2014. Here is the information for this tournament : Saskatoon Tourney Notice 2014

The members from Saskatoon always enter a big group of participants in our tournament. It would be great if we could return the favour and have a a good number of our members attend their tournament. We’ll talk about it in class.

The third tournament you may wish to consider is the Manitoba Provincial Tournament being held this year on  May 9/10, 2014 in Boisevain, MB. More information will be coming soon. This is a great opportunity to participate in another Provincial tournament and it’s just 2 hours down the road!

See you at the dojo!

Kick-a-Thon Tonight and New Session

We will be completing our kick-a-thon activity tonight during our regular workouts! The activity only takes about 15 minutes so REGULAR CLASS IS STILL GOING after the kick-a-thon event.

Even if you didn’t raise any pledges, you will still participate in the activity. It’s still karate… it’s still a class!

Also, the 3rd SESSION BEGINS NEXT WEEK! So be sure to come ready to pay your fees.

See you at the dojo!

Kick-a-Thon Tomorrow!!

Hopefully everyone has been out collecting pledges for our 1st Annual Kick-a-Thon!

The club is excited to be supporting Carlyle and Area KidSport, an organization that has supported our members for many years.

During the regular classes tomorrow, we will be doing our kick-a-thon activity. Please bring your pledge forms and money and turn them in to Sensei Kevin.

The top pledge earners from across Canada will be entered in a national prize draw from the Shintani Karate Federation!

See you at the dojo!!

Kick-a-Thon!

Keep going on your kick-a-thon pledges!! We do our event next week on Tuesday, February 18 during regular classes. All of our fund raising goes to support Carlyle and area KidSport. A non-profit organization that helps families with the costs of joining organized sport.

See you at the dojo!

Congratulations! A tip about those stripes. And the KICK-A-THON.

… to all of the students who successfully graded up tonight! It was a great turn-out for an excellent grading.

The Senseis would also like to give a special shout to Sensei Cara for all of her work organizing and preparing the grading forms! Thank you, Sensei!

Regular classes resume next week.

KEEP GETTING THOSE PLEDGES FOR THE KICK-A-THON!! Pledge forms and funds are to be handed in to Sensei Kevin. Our kick-a-thon activity will be held on Tuesday, February 18 during the regular class times.

Here’s a tip for our new members trying to figure out what to do with those stripes!!

The stripes should be sewn onto the belt on the plain end (the side without the label). They are usually placed about a finger width apart just so they look good and organized. That also makes it easier for the Senseis to see just how many stripes the student has. The sewing doesn’t have to be some fancy stitching. Just enought to keep it from falling off.
