NEW SENSEI!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Black Belt grading this weekend. All of our students looked really good on the floor.

We especially wish to congratulate our 3, brand new Senseis! Congratulations Sensei Rolland, Sensei Rick, and Sensei Payton! Your hard work has paid off! We are super proud of you!

We would also like to congratulate Sensei Quinn and Sensei Savanna for achieving the rank Nidan (2nd degree black belt) this weekend as well! We are so happy that you are continuing to learn about karate and continue developing your skills! You guys are awesome role models for other karateka!

There were 11 candidates at this grading hoping either to receive their black belt (shodan – 1st degree), or to move on to a higher dan ranking. All 11 candidates were successful!

Thank you to Sensei Ron, Sensei Darren, and Sensei Jeff for heading up the joseki (grading) board which also included Sensei Cheryl from Calgary, Sensei Crystal from Saskatoon, and Sensei Jon from Melfort. We always enjoy your visits to our club! You are always welcome at our dojo!

We also thank all of the MMWKK members who helped out in various ways throughout the weekend. Without active members, we could not do the things we do! You guys are awesome!

Congratulations for an excellent grading event.

See you at the dojo!

Good luck to everyone!

See you at the dojo!

Good luck… and congratulations!

… to our members travelling to Calgary this weekend to work out with Sensei Ron (8th Dan; SWKKF Chief Instructor), and Sensei Darren (6th Dan) as they prepare for their black belt grading in two weeks!! We know you guys will work hard and learn much to help you succeed at your grading! The rest of us look forward to you sharing with us what you learn this weekend.

Congratulations to all of our new and returning members for such a great start to the season! You have had two excellent sessions where everyone worked hard and had fun! Keep up the good work!

Just a reminder that our club bottle drive is coming up fast! Due to the grading, we will be holding the bottle drive on Saturday, October 21, 2017. More details will be shared at class.

See you at the dojo!

Classes begin TODAY!

Regular classes begin today!

Just for Kicks (age 5, 6, 7) from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Jr/Adult (age 8 up) from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

Our regular dojo is the Carlyle Elementary School gym. Please use the North gym doors off of the bus parking lot to enter the dojo.

If this is your first karate class, please remember the following:

Karate is practiced in bare feet. Please leave your shoes in the entry foyer or at the edge of the gym. We need to keep the dojo floor as clean as we can.

Please remove all jewellery and piercings if possible. This is as much for your safety as it is for your training partners.

If you don’t yet own a karate gi, a t-shirt and sweats are fine. Try to wear sweats that don’t extend much past the ankles. Wear a shirt that can be grabbed and yanked.

Please trim your finger and toe nails. You’d be surprised at the kind of scar a rogue toenail can leave on a training partner.

Groin protection is highly recommended for all karate students. Home Hardware in Carlyle usually has several different kinds in stock.

Most importantly… be patient… some techniques can be confusing at first, but with practice will become second nature.

Have fun!

See you at the dojo!

Classes begin next week!

Regular karate classes begin on Tuesday, September 19!

Just for Kicks (age 5, 6, 7) – 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Jr/Adult – 7:30 to 9:00 pm

All members are reminded to remove all jewellery, and piercings if possible. Exposed piercings, on the face and head especially, that cannot be removed must be taped. We can help with that!

Finger and toe nails should trimmed short. People with longer hair may wish to put it up, or keep it back with a headband. Ideally, headbands should be black or white in colour.

Karate is practiced in bare feet. If you do not yet have a gi, workout wear that can be grabbed and yanked will suffice until your gi arrives. Sweatpants should not extend past the ankles.

See you at the dojo!
