Alternate Location Next Week

Next week we will be holding our workout at the G.F. Kells High School gym. Classes will be at their usual times.

Please enter through the South doors around the rear of the school. There is parking back there or you can walk around from the street.

This is the same location in which we hold our tournament each year. So it’s a good opportunity to get a feel for the different floor and the different dojo in general.

Good work at our last class. It’s nice to see everyone sweating and working hard. Keep it up!

See you at the high school!

Great Workout… and a surprise visit!

Good job on another great workout yesterday, everyone! It was also great to have Sensei Jason Duhaime out to work with us. For those who don’t know him, Sensei Doomer has been working in the Regina area lately so we haven’t seen him around too much. It’s always good to have him in the dojo! Just as aside, we don’t really consider Sensei Jason a visitor… he belongs with us! Just like that Uncle you only see once-in-a-while but it seems as though he’d never been away.

All of the “extra” duffle bags have been sold and sent away for embroidery. As soon as they arrive we’ll be handing those out. It was great to see so many crispy new gis on the floor yesterday!

We took a few additional registrations yesterday as well so we have over 90 registered karateka so far! That’s great. In case you’re wondering… we had 43 in attendance at our regular Jr/Adult class last night.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, our home tournament, the Saskatchewan Provincial Wado Kai Karate Tournament, is scheduled for November 29 and 30, 2013 to be held at G.F. Kells High School. Add it to your calendar and plan to attend! It’s a great event attended by many great people from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

See you next week.

Great Turnout!

What a great turnout to our Registration Night tonight! It was nice to see so many familiar faces returning to our dojo. It was equally nice to see many new faces of different ages joining our club for the first time. Thanks for coming out!

If you couldn’t make it tonight, don’t worry! You can still register at a regular class.

Regular classes begin next Tuesday, September 17, 2013. The Just for Kicks class (age 5, 6, and 7) at 6:30 and the Adult/Jr class at 7:30 pm.

See you at the dojo!

Excellent Workout!

Great work, tonight, everyone!

It is always interesting to learn where our martial art comes from and the video we watched tonight was very informational. As Sensei Joan said, “We are part of a family and this is our ‘Family Tree’.” As John Diefenbaker once said, “he who does not know the past can never understand the present, and he certainly can do nothing for the future.

There is more of our karate history on the Shintani.ca website.

See you next week.

Congratulations!

… to each of our members who attended the Selkirk tournament this weekend!

We had 7 members make the long drive out to Selkirk to participate in the Manitoba Provincial tournament and they all represented our club very well. Good job, everyone! We’ll ask how things went for you at the workout tomorrow.

DON’T FORGET… to tie your belts properly and to line up your shoes neatly along the sides of the entry to the dojo so people aren’t tripping over shoes and stepping in watery mud in the middle of the floor as they enter the dojo.

See you at the dojo.

Good Work and Tournament Reminder

Good work tonight, everyone!

Just another reminder about the Manitoba Provincial Wado Kai Karate Tournament being held this weekend in Selkirk, MB.

Good luck to our members who said they would be attending. Remember to leave yourself plenty of time to get there. It “Googles” around 450 KM so it will take about the same amount of time to get there as it does to Saskatoon.

Here is the info and registration forms.
