New Words of Wisdom

If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus; and you must not stay there. You must go beyond them.” – Bruce Lee

What an honour that two recipients from Saskatchewan were chosen out of 15 applicants nation wide! SWKKF karate is alive and kicking in Saskatchewan!

We all know Sensei Quinn from our club. His hard work and dedication have made him a key member of Moose Mountain Wado Kai Karate. Many of us know Sensei LJ from Saskatoon. He regularly attends our tournament, always attends the Warman tournament, and is a member of our National SWKKF team.

Here is the official media release from the Federation. Scholarship Media Release August 2014

Congratulations, Senseis! Good luck as you begin your post-secondary studies!

Summer Practice?

Have you been working on your karate during the summer?

It only takes a few minutes to run through the katas you know and go through a few techniques. You want to keep working during our off-season so that you’re ready to start where you left off when the regular season begins again in September.

You can work from the ground up. Begin by practicing your stances. Make sure they are deep and stable. Use a digital device propped up on a sofa or a fence and record yourself so you can see what you are doing. From there you can add techniques like tsukis and geris or even create your own combinations. Keep it interesting and you will stay interested!

See you at the dojo!

A Great Year!

It was nice to see so many of our members at the BBQ/Potluck wind-up this week!

Thank you so much to all of our karateka for working so hard this year and giving 110% at every workout. It is a real treat for the Senseis to work with dedicated and eager students every week.

We plan to continue to try new things as we did this year. We also want to continue to encourage our students to attend other tournaments to meet new karate people and share their skills.

Congratulations to Sensei Quinn on his graduation this year! He plans to enter the U. of R. in the fall. We’ll be sure to get him, Sensei Savanna, and Sensei Andrew back in the dojo as often as we can!

Be sure to subscribe to this blog or continue checking it occassionally through the summer as content will continue to be added.

Have a great “off-season”! We hope to see all of you back in the fall. Bring a friend!!

See you at the dojo!
