“It is better to avoid than to run; better to run than to de-escalate; better to de-escalate than to fight; better to fight than to die. The very essence of self-defence is a thin list of things that might get you out alive when you are already scr**ed” – From “Meditations on Violence” by Rory Miller

We have made some changes with our web site!

See you at the dojo!
We have been forwarded information on an exciting event taking place in Winnipeg, MB in June 2016.
Sensei Iain Abernethy will be leading a seminar on June 4 and 5, 2016!
Sensei Iain is one of the world’s foremost experts on kata bunkai and its practical applications in real-life situations. He travels all over the world conducting seminars like this and we are lucky to have one so close to us. We teach many of his principals in our dojo. If you have any questions, contact Sensei Kevin at moosemountainkarate@gmail.com and he will get back to you as soon as he can. Here’s the information… IainAbernethySeminarPoster
It should probably be mentioned that this seminar is open only to Brown and Black belt karateka 16 years and older.
When was the last time you ran through your katas? Basic techniques?
The summer is an awesome time for practicing outside. The fresh air and feel of the grass on your feet is exhilarating! It can also be a time of reflection if you choose to practice in a secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of summer vacation. Just you and karate… breathe in… breathe out…
It only takes a few minutes to do your katas and run through some techniques, so why not do it everyday?! Set the same time every day to work through your karate so it becomes a natural part of your day… every day.
Just remember to watch your footing on the grass as it can sometimes be a little slick.
We would like to congratulate Sensei Darren Humphries from Calgary (originally from Carlyle) and Sensei Jeff Gervin from Boissevain for being advanced to the rank of Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt)!!
We have close associations with both of these incredible black belts and couldn’t be happier to celebrate their advancement.
