… to everyone who participated in the grading on Tuesday! The process of simply participating in a grading is a great demonstration of character for a karateka.
Congratulations, also, to all those who advanced in rank. The belts we wear in the dojo are lasting evidence of the hard work we have done, and the commitment we have shown to our karate training. Way to go!
If you didn’t advance, try not to look at it like a failure. Instead, approach it as an opportunity to do even better at the next grading. Your Sensei look at many aspects of your karate development when deciding to advance your rank. Whatever the reason, they have your best karate interests at heart, and ultimately want to see you do well. Awarding a student a rank for which they aren’t ready is actually more of a disservice than a favour.
Remember… karate-do is a “way” not a destination.
The grading will take place tonight as previously scheduled.
We will be starting at the regular class time, so please do not be late to class today, or you may not qualify for your grading!

With the uncertainty of having consistent power, cooling temps in the dojo, and members who travel to attend classes, we have decided to cancel all karate classes tonight, Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to share this message.
If the power is on and we have lights in the dojo, then we will have regular karate classes tonight.
If the power is still off at 6:30 pm then karate will be cancelled tonight.
We will update later this evening.
Our grading is tomorrow! We will begin at 7:30 pm immediately after the Just For Kicks class.
Come a little early to warm up and prepare.
If you’re new to our club for this session, please come tomorrow. We will have a Sensei ready to work with you guys for your first class!

Today is the last day of Session 1. You can bring fees for the next session today if you wish. The sooner the better! Session 2 begins next Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
The grading will be coming up in early December. Make sure you are practicing and staying in good karate shape! Remember… “Don’t treat a grading as if it were like any other class. Treat every class as if it were a grading.” – Sensei Rathe. With this attitude, you will always be ready for a grading.
