Take your picture!

Set your camera on a timer or ask someone to take it for you while you are in kiba dachi stance.

Do you look like this?

If not, it’s never too late to start practicing! This young karateka is in an awesome kiba dachi stance! His feet are a little past shoulder width apart, they are both pointing forward, his knees are nicely bent, and his back is straight. We should all hang this in our dojo for inspiration!

This tournament is being held on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, 2019.

The Living Skies Wado Kai Karate Club is partnering with Sensei Brad’s Saskatoon Sport Karate and Competition Dojo (SSKCD) for the tournament this year.

The Friday evening clinic and Saturday Tournament portions will basically be a traditional Shintani-style tournament. We will likely have competitors from the SSKCD entering as well. They will be performing their own kata, but will have to follow the Shintani rules for kumite.

The location for this event on the Friday and Saturday is Traditions Elementary School ( 401 Traditions Boulevard ) in Warman, SK (15 minutes north of Saskatoon). The map makes it appear as if the school stands alone in the middle of a field. That’s more-or-less true 😉 However, there are more houses being built in that area every month.

Our Shintani clubs have, in turn, been invited to participate in the SSKCD Tournament on Sunday, April 7, 2019. This event will use WKF rules which we have discussed in class. If you are interested in participating in this event, and would like clarification of the differences, please ask a Sensei.

This tournament on Sunday, April 7, 2019 is being held at the Saskatoon Inn – 2002 Airport Drive, Saskatoon SK.
